it’s no secret that there has been a very deliberate and direct attack on public education. Budget shortfalls, teacher shortage, and voucher programs that take funding from public education. Patrick has been at the front lines as a PTA member, media relations volunteer, and active voice for teachers across Austin ISD. Patrick speaks up for teachers who do so much for so many.
CTE H.S. TEacher
Teaching is stressful. Teaching during the pandemic…insane. Patrick rode the roller coaster of remote-to-hybrid-to-in-person teaching during a time unlike any other. As a CTE Entrepreneurship teacher Patrick leveraged his real world business knowledge to help predominantly low-income Black and Brown students understand how to succeed inside and outside the classroom. Patrick even proudly had one student soar all the way to the state finals of Texas ATM University’s Business Pitch Competition!

Patrick represents the border where two cultures intertwine. With his mother coming to the U.S. from Mexico, Patrick was born in Texas and spent most of his life assimilated into a traditional “American” lifestyle. Only after moving to El Paso for college did Patrick begin to understand the rich Mexican Cultural Capital he had within. Patrick knows the struggles of navigating two identities, while truly finding his cultural roots in the culture of Hip Hop.
